don't forget the instructions... WATCH THE BACKGROUND!!!
animation actioscript and music by me... yes, alot of work.
VERSION 1.1 --------------------------------------------------------- I've changed the aiming because people didn't like the old one. it was too difficult and not that much enjoyable.
fixed a number of sound, music and animation bugs so now you can enjoy a richer sound and music (the music changes as you gain points) and the animation of the squid and octopuses works smoother.
also, added a monsterpedia. as you gain points more monsters will be revealed in there.
victory at 15,000 points. good luck and may the power of the crab be with you.
What flash resources did you find helpful when making this? Any sites or tutorials you read?
I think it would be more fun if you changed the aiming mechanic. While innovative, it is hardly fun. The game, LOOKS beautiful, and I love the haunting music.
What are the mechanical reasons you chose to restrict the player by making them break their eggs when stepping on them, rather than just passing behind them?
most of my flash knowledge comes from 3 books, all published by "O'reilly". essential as3, as3 cookbook and design patterns. [link] and ofcourse trying and testing new ideas I get.
I never really looked deep in the internet for codes. there are mostly little tricks which could be nice but doesn't teach you how to construct a fully working game. maybe in the future I'll do a tutorial showing some deeper stuff about as3 programing and object oriented thinking.
I do think about building a "easy mode" option for easier aiming, though the aiming mechanic is one of the first things I've wanted. making the game different from other "space invaders" not making it too easy, maybe it's just too hard.
about the eggs. it just seemed funny (in a frustrating way) you step over your eggs while trying to protect them. they just control the amount of points you get so they are not crucial. and every 1000 points you get one egg rebuild/reborn.
